How to Take a Screenshot on a Laptop?

The easiest way to take a screenshot on a laptop is to press the ‘Print Screen Key’ found usually on the top row of the laptop’s keyboard.

Different laptop manufacturers may have different keyboard designs and the position of this key may vary. The key will be marked ‘PrtScr’ or ‘PrtScn’. An image of the full screen will be saved in the Screenshots folder on the laptop.

The ways to take a screenshot on your laptop are:

  • Press Alt + ’PrtScr’ keys to make a copy of the active window. This will be on the clipboard for using or pasting on any other document.
  • Windows + Shift + S keys can be pressed if you wish to select a portion of the screen to copy.
  • Windows + ‘PrtScr’ keys can also be used to take a screenshot on the laptop.
  • Snipping Tool is another facility in a Windows laptop for taking screenshots.
  • You can take screenshots with the Game Bar while playing games.

’PrtScr’ Key

The ‘PrtScr’ key is the easiest way to take a screenshot on a Windows laptop.

As mentioned above, some keyboards may show ’PrtScr’ while others have ’PrtScn’. You may find that on some laptops, it will be required to press the ’Fn’ key and the ’PrtScr’ key together.

The drawback of this method is that the image saved will be just what you can see on the display. If the content you want to be copied does not get covered in full, you may have to scroll down and take another screenshot.

Alt + ’PrtScr’ Keys

By pressing the Alt + ‘PrtScr’ keys together, the image on the screen is copied to the clipboard. This is useful if you are in the middle of creating a document in MS Word or any other program and want to add the screenshot there.

The Paste button in Word or the Ctrl + V keys on the keyboard will paste the clipboard content on the document as you would normally do.

Windows + Shift + S Keys

When you press the Windows key along with the Shift key and the letter S, you will find that the screen dims. The mouse will change into a different shape. This allows you to select any part of the screen you wish to copy. The chosen content will be on the clipboard for use in any other program.

However, it should be noted that this method of taking screenshots is available only with the latest version of the Windows 10 OS (Creators Update).

How Do I Take a Screenshot on an Asus Laptop?

There are several ways you can take screenshots on an Asus laptop. These methods may not differ widely from the other Windows-driven laptops. However, there are additional tools available in the latest models of Asus laptops. The user’s choice will determine which route is the best.

The key for taking screenshots on Asus laptops is named ’Print’. There are two options here. If you want to just use the screenshot to be shared once in a document or mail that you are typing, you can press the ’Print’ key alone. The image will be on the clipboard for pasting elsewhere.

Many users of Asus laptops may have more than one monitor connected to their PC or laptop. The same action of pressing the Windows + ’Print‘ keys together will result in the saving of screenshot images of all the screens in one single file in a PNG format. The location will be ‘C:\User\\Pictures‘or ‘C:\User\\Pictures\Screenshots‘.

While this will happen automatically, you also have the option to open the screenshot in one of the editing programs like Paint and then save it.
