Can you connect your TV to a mobile hotspot? Smart TVs are designed to connect to mobile hotspots. If you’re using a Smart TV, you should definitely be able to connect it to a mobile hotspot. Smart TVs have built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and can directly connect to mobile hotspots or regular home Wi-Fi. If your TV is NOT Smart TV, you might still be able to connect it to a mobile hotspot. You need to buy a compatible wireless USB dongle for it to be able to connect to mobile hotspots. You can use a Chromecast or Fire Stick to your TV to connect to mobile hotspots. Why is your TV not connecting to your mobile hotspot? A TV will not connect to mobile hotspot if there are too many other devices connected, outdated firmware is installed, or if incorrect DNS settings are applied. There are too many devices connected to the mobile hotspot. Your TV might not connect to your mobile hotspot because there are too many devices connected to the mobile hotspot. Mobile hotspots have a maximum number of connections they can handle. Try removing all connections to your mobile hotspot and then only connecting your TV to the hotspot. TV needs to be rebooted. Some manufacturers let you easily do a reboot on your TV to help fix certain problems such as connectivity issues. Most are done by holding down the power button on either the TV remote or the TV itself until it reboots. Try rebooting your TV and connecting to your mobile hotspot and see if you can connect now. Change the DNS settings on your TV. Sometimes there are issues with the DNS setting on your TV that cause connectivity issues. To fix this, you just need to manually input the correct DNS settings on your TV. Update your device firmware. Your TV might be having problems connecting to your mobile hotspot because it doesn’t have the latest firmware from the manufacturer. Check and see if updating to the latest firmware solves your connectivity issues. Factory reset your TV or mobile phone If your TV or your mobile hotspot are both a bit older and having issues, then they might need a factory reset to get them both working properly again. Find the exact instructions for your model of TV and or mobile hotspot then follow them to do a factory reset. Before trying any of the more difficult solutions, try the simplest possible solution first. Try turning off and turning on both your TV and your mobile hotspot. This will fix your connectivity issues if you’re lucky enough. Note: Don’t just turn off then turn on your TV and mobile hotspot like normal, try turning off your TV at the power outlet and try taking out the batteries from your mobile hotspot and then turn them on. How do you connect your TV to a mobile hotspot? Most Smart TVs have the same basic procedure to connect to mobile hotspots. However, they can vary from brand to brand and from model to model. Access the “main menu” of your TV. Find the option for “connection settings”. Find the option for “wireless settings”. Search for your mobile hotspot. Enter your mobile hotspot’s password. Your TV and mobile hotspot should be connected. How to connect your Samsung Smart TV to a mobile hotspot Samsung brand Smart TVs mostly all have the same layouts and procedures for settings. To connect your Samsung Smart TV to a mobile hotspot: While your TV is on, press the “TV” button on your remote. Choose “Menu”. Choose “Network”. Choose “Network Settings”. Choose “Wireless”. Pick your mobile hotspot. Enter your mobile hotspot’s password. Choose “Next”. Your TV will then try to connect to your mobile hotspot. When you’re connected to the mobile hotspot, choose “Enter” to complete the process. How do you connect your LG Smart TV to a mobile hotspot? LG Smart TVs all have the same basic network setup procedure. To connect your LG Smart TV to a mobile hotspot: Press “Menu” on your TV remote. Choose “Setup”. Choose “Connection Settings”. Choose “Wireless”. Choose “Yes”. Choose your mobile hotspot from the available options of wireless connections. Input your password. Your LG Smart TV and mobile hotspot should be connected. How do you connect your VIZIO Smart TV to a mobile hotspot? To connect your Vizio Smart TV to a mobile hotspot: Select “Menu” on your TV remote. Choose “Network” using the arrow buttons on your remote then press the “OK” button on your remote. Your mobile hotspot should be an option on display. If it’s not on display, choose “More Access Points”. Choose your mobile hotspot. Key in your password using your TV remote and the on-screen keyboard. Choose “Connect” and press “OK” on your TV remote. Your TV should be connected to your mobile hotspot. Why TCL Roku TV won’t connect to mobile hotspot? The first thing you should try is turning off and turning on both your Roku TV and your mobile hotspot. Try doing this first before doing anything else. If this doesn’t fix your connectivity problem, then try updating the software on your Roku TV. Roku TVs are known to have issues when it comes to connecting to hotspots but firmware updates usually come around and solve these issues. Sometimes the last firmware update messes with the connection of your Roku TV, then another firmware update needs to be made to fix the issue. But how do you update your Roku TV if you can’t connect to a hotspot in the first place? Try doing a hard factory reset on your Roku TV and then try connecting to a hotspot to download the firmware update. A factory reset can temporarily fix your connection problems even if they don't solve the issue permanently. Note: To check for firmware updates on your Roku TV, go to “Settings” then to “System” then to “System Update”. If your Roku TV is updated to the latest firmware but still won’t connect to your mobile hotspot, then there might be an issue with your mobile hotspot. Try using a mobile hotspot that works with other devices on your Roku TV to confirm this. If it really is your mobile hotspot that’s the issue, then try resetting it to factory settings to fix your connectivity issues. Why is Netflix not connecting to your mobile hotspot? Usually, Netflix won’t connect to your mobile hotspot if your mobile hotspot doesn’t have fast enough internet speeds or your mobile hotspot doesn’t have a stable enough connection. If your mobile hotspot isn’t getting fast enough internet speeds for Netflix, then consider upgrading your mobile plan to get faster speeds. Depending on your situation, turning down the quality on Netflix might also solve this problem. If your mobile hotspot doesn’t have a stable enough connection, try moving your mobile hotspot around to get the best possible connection you can find in your area. If that doesn’t work, then try getting a higher quality mobile hotspot that is better at getting network signals. As always, turning off then turning on your TV, your mobile hotspot or both your TV and mobile hotspot might solve your problem. Try it and see if Netflix connects to your mobile hotspot. Other reasons Netflix doesn't connect to your mobile hotspot: Your mobile hotspot service provider has banned or limited use of Netflix. Check the fine print of your mobile hotspot package. Some sneaky providers offer deals such as UNLIMITED DATA but put clauses in such as “not for Netflix, YouTube, etc.”. These sneaky providers usually offer an upsell on their mobile hotspot packages specifically for online video streaming like watching Netflix or YouTube. Your mobile hotspot has run out of its monthly data quota. Watching video content uses up mobile data quickly. Before you know it, you may have finished your quota and you can’t watch Netflix anymore. Check if you used up your data quota.
